Boutique-Feel Master Bedroom in a Historic 1920s Colonial Home

The Brief

Large master bedroom with south and east facing windows. Enlarge the two small closets on the north side of the room by removing the wall to create a large closet along the length of the wall. Furnish with a blue and white color palette, and add additional accent colors.

the Design

  • Changed color of the room from a lifeless gray shade of white to a peaceful Wedgewood blue with cheerful white molding.

  • Installed custom cellular shades for privacy and light filtration.

  • King size upholstered headboard fits beautifully between the two north facing windows.

  • Matching navy blue Safavieh night tables with a bamboo pattern front detail and matching blue and white chinoiserie lamps compliment the blue shade of the walls.

  • Keeping the blue color theme with the bedding, additional hand-block printed blue and green euro shams from Saffron Marigold add a boutique touch.

  • A comfortable white recliner adds comfortable corner seating.

  • On the north wall of the bedroom, the newly designed wall-length closet features two sets of French doors for easy access to clothes and accessories.

  • A vintage brown chinoiserie makeup table adds a vintage element, which contrasts with the modern blue and orange painting by Canadian abstract artists, Maryam Ebrahimi.

  • The vintage Persian carpet was purchased second-hand and ties together the blues, greens, and browns of the room.
